Daily Messages for Teams

Support Others with Constructive Feedback

Negative criticism can poison relationships and make the recipient feel small, hurt, and rejected. When someone feels attacked, the typical response is often to retreat or counter attack, which provides no opportunity for the two parties to work through their issues. Instead of criticizing, provide constructive feedback that supports those around you in their growth.

Discuss in your huddle examples of constructive feedback that can support you and your teammates.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "By creating a feedback culture within your office, you ensure that people continue to learn, grow, and challenge themselves." – Neil Blumenthal, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker

Work Together to Manage Stress and Anxiety

While your team continues to ramp operations, it's important to remember that we are still rebounding as a community in the wake of a global health crisis. Compassion, empathy, and trust will see us through. As you work with your team on a recovery plan, below are some ideas to help you manage stress and anxiety:

  • Stay connected with those you love by planning a themed online gathering with your friends and family.
  • Start the day with a breathing exercise or mindful meditation to keep you centered during a busy day.
  • Get plenty of sleep and enjoy nutritious meals. By feeding your mind and resting your body, you’ll be better able to cope with the challenges ahead.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for support if you need it. Offer support to those in need.
  • Avoid clutter, distractions, and procrastination both at home and at work.
  • Click here to review the CDC’s guidance on coping with stress.

Discuss in your huddle how you and your team will continue to support each other as you navigate your changing environment.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “We’re ready for whatever is ahead. Some of it is going to be tough, but I’m confident that most of it will be a lesson in connection, community, and triumph.”  -Jack Hinton, Chief Health, Safety, and Environment Officer for Baker Hughes, Inc.

Honesty, Integrity, and Character are Vital Aspects of Business

The way we do business is as critical as whether business is good or bad. Every team member has a responsibility to speak up when lapses in compliant, ethical, or moral behavior occur in the workplace. By supporting an environment of honesty, integrity, and character, your practice will thrive.

Discuss in your huddle how each team member plays a role in maintaining compliant and ethical conduct in the workplace.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "There is nothing more attractive to a customer and their community than an organization that does business with both heart and head." -Susan Elwood, Manager, Meals on Wheels

A Strong Online Reputation Will Grow Your Practice

Following treatment for a fractured tooth at office #123, Dentists of Mayberry in Oklahoma, a patient posted a glowing 5-star review. He was impressed by the safety measures the team put into place and by the Owner Dentist’s chairside manner. "She goes above and beyond for her patients! In this day and age where healthcare can be so impersonal, I applaud the practice for showing they care." Thanks to the online review, several new patients scheduled future appointments.

Discuss in your huddle how extraordinary care can lead to a positive online reputation. Why is it important to maintain a positive online presence?

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "It all starts with love. Love your family, your work, and your friends. Love the blessing of awakening each morning with the chance to really matter.” - Dr. Smile, Owner Dentist

Eliminate Fear to Bring Patients to Your Practice

As the healthcare crisis continues to evolve, fear now inhibits many patients from visiting your practice and making the best treatment choices. When speaking with concerned patients over the phone, ease their fears by compassionately listening to their questions and educating them about the safety protocols in place at your practice. By eliminating fear, you will continue to grow your practice with new and continuing care patients.

Discuss in your huddle specific dialogue you can have to ease patient concerns.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “We want to ensure that dental practices are appropriately seen as essential, necessary, and safe. There is no need for patients to suffer from untreated dental issues. Do not let misguided safety concerns keep your patients from getting the vital oral health care they need.” – Stephen Thorne, Founder & CEO
